Tips to Stay Sober and Be Safe

Approximately 40% of all car accidents are alcohol related, and it is estimated that 30% of American citizens will be involved in a drunk driving related accident in their lifetime.  To avoid this, you need to take steps to both be sober on the roads and also be aware of drivers who may not be.

To remain sober, the best method is to avoid drinking altogether or to drink slowly and monitor yourself.  If you do find that you have indulged a little too much, find alternative plans to get home and do not get behind the wheel under any circumstances.

Even if you remain sober, you must be aware of other drivers on the road who may be under the influence and take steps to remain safe. If you spot a driver who may be intoxicated, stay back and away from the car.  Call and report the information to the police right away.

Staying safe on the road can be intimidating with such sobering statistics.  But by being aware of your surroundings and taking care to be responsible you can lessen your chance of being involved in a DUI related arrest or accident.
